Newbury, NH – (November 10, 2008) – Mount Sunapee Resort is scheduled to open Friday, November 28 with the most opening day terrain ever.  Thirteen trails will open including top-to-bottom skiing and riding in the Sunbowl, two top-to-bottom runs on the Main Mountain and a top-to-bottom novice run on South Peak.

Thanks to a dome of cold dry air that settled over New England starting November 17 and the purchase of 48 new high-efficiency snow guns over the past two years, Mount Sunapee was able to maximize its snowmaking production while using less energy per snowmaking gun.

There will be terrain available for all abilities over the busy Thanksgiving weekend.  Three quad chairs are scheduled to operate including the 6000’ high-speed Sunapee Express.

All services will be available in the Sunapee Lodge and the Guest Services Desk and Goosefeathers Pub will be open in the Spruce Lodge.  The Rental Shop will also be open.

The Learning Center will be open offering lessons for intermediate and advanced skiers and riders only.  The beginner terrain and teaching lifts are not yet open.

The popular free Learn to Ski/Snowboard program is scheduled to begin Saturday, December 6 and continue through Wednesday, December 24.  Beginners receive a one-day package including a two-hour group lesson, rental equipment and a lift ticket to the South Peak Learning Area.  The start of this program is dependent on snowmaking and weather.

Saturday, December 7 is the first of two Cares and Shares days at Mount Sunapee.  Each skier or rider who brings five non-perishable food items to the ticket window pays only $30.  The food is donated to local families and food shelters.
