Newbury, NH – (December 11, 2006) – On Sunday, December 10, 2006
skiers and snowboarders donated 2000 pounds of food during
Cares & Shares Day at the mountain. Twice each season
(the next Cares & Shares Day is Sunday, April 8, 2007) skiers
and riders can ski or ride for only $25 when they donate five
non-perishable food items at the ticket window.
Not only did guests purchasing tickets bring food items, many
season pass holders and staff also got into the spirit of
sharing. Food items are distributed to food shelves in local
communities for the holidays.
Through programs like “Cares and Shares” and the Mount Sunapee
Community Challenge Fund, which is generated by the Annual Snow
Ball in February, Mount Sunapee Resort annually gives back over
$50,000 to the community to support student education,
environmental education, the arts and other charitable causes in
the Lake Sunapee region.
Mount Sunapee opened for the season on Wednesday, December 8 and
currently has skiing and riding from the Summit and South Peak on
12 trails and slopes. More terrain will be opening as
snowmaking permits.
