JV Racing Program Info and Rates
The JVs ski all day (9:00 am - 2:30 pm) with a coach. They must have skied a minimum of two years and be able to ski blues and blacks comfortably. Eighty-five (85) percent of the time the focus of the group will be to develop a variety of skills through directed skiing, technical drills and undirected free skiing. For the remaining 15%, the racers will practice tactical and technical drills with gates. The focus of the competitive situations is to do one’s best (the performance), not the outcome or result. Since each child matures at a different rate, it’s more important to emphasize fun. It’s important these athletes experience as many different physical activities off snow as possible.
The JVs will concentrate primarily on giant slalom and have 3-5 race opportunities. In January, the group will attend two divisional races. The JV coaches will print the schedule with specific instructions. In February the qualifying races for the BWL State Finals will be held and in March the BWL State Championships will take place. All athletes are required to be members of both USSA and NHARA, our state racing organization.
